CAMPAIGN DESCRIPTION

What Happened to Dujuan Armstrong is a documentary directed by Lucas Guilkey telling the story of the mysterious death of a 23-year-old young man named Dujuan Armstrong in Santa Rita jail. In the summer of 2018, Dujuan was serving weekends for a burglary conviction but never came home one weekend. Dujuan’s mother, Barbara Doss was determined to find out the details of her son’s unexpected death but has met with many difficulties including the opaque and powerful position of American sheriffs. The search to discover the truth and justice may take more than just a 27-minute documentary, which is why we want to amplify our voice through collaboration and actions. We plan to host virtual film screenings and online panels to reach more audiences, generate discussion, stop the racial and criminal injustice, and together we can make the change we want to see in this world.

Do you want to be part of the change?

  • SIGN THE PETITION

In the past years, more than 45 people have died in Santa Rita Jail and yet Alameda County Sheriff Greg Ahern continues to operate with little transparency and even less accountability. As protests demanding police accountability spread across the nation, in-custody deaths often remain in the shadows. Anti Police-Terror Project, Oakland, CA, sponsors a petition to help families who seek justice, please check it out below.

  •  GO FUND DUJUAN'S FAMILY

To support Dujuan's family, we kindly welcome you to donate by clicking the text. Barbara Doss is organizing this fundraiser. As of the date of the document, $2,426 raised of $20,000 goal. They are sincerely looking for more donations.
